When should I start to prepare for the UCAT?

You should start as early as possible—ideally in Year 11 or even Year 10. The sooner your start on UCAT preparation, the more time you will have to focus on succeeding in your Year 12 studies during your final year of school, the less stress you will experience, and the more speed and accuracy you will be able to develop when answering UCAT questions.

Pro tip: if you take advantage of the summer holidays before Year 11/12 to get most of your UCAT study done, then during Year 12 you’ll be free to focus on succeeding in your studies and can just do a few UCAT practice exams to refine your test strategies in your spare time. We always recommend our students to finish most (if not all) of their UCAT prep during the final summer break before Year 12 begins/resumes.
